VA DISABILITY + DIVORCE… where should the line be drawn? 🇺🇸 The Supreme Court just agreed to hear a case that could have major implications for military divorce agreements. Here’s the important part: VA disability compensation generally cannot simply be divided as marital property in a divorce. But Marschner v. Marschner raises a different question: what happens when a veteran and spouse previously agreed that the spouse would be protected if disability benefits later reduced the military retirement pay they were supposed to receive? Now the Supreme Court will weigh in. As a veteran myself, I know this one is going to bring some STRONG opinions. So I want to hear yours: Should an ex-spouse ever receive money tied to a veteran’s disability benefits after divorce? YES? NO?
